Our Story

Dr. Ceylon Mitchell II (he, him, his) is a contemporary classical flutist, educator, entrepreneur, and marketing communications professional on a mission to celebrate historically marginalized voices in the arts. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Flute Performance from the University of Maryland, College Park—also receiving a Graduate Certificate in Multimedia Journalism. In 2016, Dr. Mitchell founded “M3 | Music Media & Marketing” as a musician helping other musicians leverage digital media for brand storytelling. Today, Dr. Mitchell supports creatives, arts organizations, and beyond with personalized multimedia production and digital marketing consulting as the co-founder, chief executive officer, and principal consultant of M3 | Mitchell Media & Marketing, LLC. Recently awarded a Comcast RISE Program Grant, M3 has served dozens of individuals, 10+ arts ensembles, and 20+ organizations of all sizes including local arts agencies, arts advocacy groups, universities, and more. With work featured at The Washington Post, Baltimore Business Journal, NBC4 Washington, Strathmore, The Georgetowner, International Arts Manager, Americans for the Arts, and many client websites, M3 tailored services include photography, videography, web design, and digital marketing. Together with his wife and business partner, Denys Symonette Mitchell, Dr. Mitchell seeks to equip and empower arts workers for success in a 21st-century landscape.

					Dr. Ceylon Mitchell and M3 delivered headshots for the Creative Entrepreneur Capital Summit 2023. Not only was the response from these creative business owners one of gratitude, the photos turned out great. Dr. Ceylon was very easy to work with in the pre-planning by delivering tips and insights days before for attendees to be photo ready. This made for a seamless experience where headshots were taken in between workshop sessions and during lunch. The headshots arrived directly to the attendees email promptly two weeks after [as promised] which relieved us of additional post production responsibilities. We'll absolutely have him back in 2024!

Recently, I engaged its principal Ceylon to capture the debut of my "Across the Arts" interview with world-renowned composer Adolphus Hailstork at Washington National Cathedral.  This interview was ahead of a special concert performed jointly be The Cathedral Choral Society and The Heritage Signature Chorale, who are among DC's most prominent choruses.  Because Ceylon is an accomplished musician himself, he captured the event with such precision that certainly other artists would appreciate. He thoroughly answered all of my questions and always communicated with me within 24 hours. Ceylon was on time and set up his equipment before we entered the venue. 					Ceylon took beautiful pictures of my daughter, the venue, and guests at my daughter’s Sweet 17 birthday party. Party planning is typically chaos plus I got sick the week of the party and he was truly the calm in the storm.
